  • 'the barren(s)' in LA!

    November 21, 2022

Speaking of surprise gifts, we're delighted that New Opera West found us and staged a part of our mini opera in their 2022 "Fright Festival" for Halloween! Originally created for the Kennedy Center/American Opera Initiative, 'the barren(s)' takes a different look at the lore of the New Jersey Devil- or, more specifically, at Mrs. Deborah Leeds, the supposed mother of the beast that haunts the Pine Barrens. Libretto by me, music by Amber Vistein. Hope to work with NOW again in the spring!

  • RH wins residency/commission at The Cell Theatre, Spring 2023

    November 21, 2022

Yeah I'm putting this in two places because I'm WRITING it and PERFORMING it!

Thrilled to be in residence at the absolutely beautiful and unique The Cell theatre in Manhattan in spring 2023, developing my first solo show in many years. 'How To Read Tarot Cards' is based in part on my e-book 'Respect for Tarot' (did you know about my side hustle?) and will be a memoir cabaret about the highs and lows of a life lived in search of magic. Directed by Chloe Treat and featuring (probably) members of the Wrong Band, plus likely the ghost of my father who taught me to read the cards as a teenager. Stay tuned.
